The DeRosas.

What do you get when you cross super punk annnnd super luxe? I'll get you what you get, Andy and Mara. Mara reached out to me last May about loving my style and totally wanting me to be their wedding photographer, the second we got on the phone we knew collectively that we were going to be besties in this entire wedding planning process. They booked and the rest was history~

The Engagement.

When Mara told me she wanted something romantic and on the beach for her engagement photos, I knew exactly where to take them. Lowdermilk Park Beach has these gorgeous rocks at the end of the beach, the only catch is we have to walk the entire way...problem? Not at all! Andy, Mara and myself (well Andy gets more praise because he made the hike with a giant bag of clothes in hand) trek the beach to the very end to make the rocks our new home. Once I got them up on the rocks, (mind you I was 2 months pregnant so climbing rocks was a little nerve wracking) we let the wind do it's thing and we made those rocks look like we were red carpet super stars.

The Wedding.

The DeRosas booked their venue at the Clue at The Strand in Naples, Florida. Having your wedding in Florida means coming to the understanding that mother nature will do what she wants, and it's totally out of our hands. We weren't entirely sure if we'd be able to have a ceremony outside as it started storming the night before Andy and Mara's big day, and didn't stop until about an hour before the ceremony.

The First Look.

First looks can be one several different ways, but I think one of the most special ways to do a first look is with the bride's father. A handful of my brides have done this, and it's always truly such a tear jerking moment. Mara wanted her dad to see her before walking her down the aisle and have the moment captured so they would reflect back and remember that exact memory forever.

The Ceremony.

Luckily, we were working with an insanely talented vendor team that ensured they got their outdoor reception, with an added perk, it was in the shade out of the Florida sun. Sounds amazing right? Well that's because it was. We moved their ceremony to a covered portion of the venue that overlooked the beautiful grass and luxurious homes of the community. They completed their ceremony with a blending of ceremonial sand, symbolizing two becoming one.

Family & Wedding Party.

If there was one thing you could truly feel about Andrew and Mara's wedding day, was the sense of family. Everyone knew everyone and they were all so incredibly warm and welcoming. As soon as I walked in, Andy's mom helped me set up Mara's wedding dress to ensure it as perfectly placed right as she'd like. Not only was the family welcoming and helpful, but they took to my crazy ideas and joined in on all of my photo ideas making them so much more fun. Andy and his groomsmen wore a met gala worth tux, just about as classic as you can get. Mara and her gals wore a stunning shade of green that not only complimented the venue perfectly but each of her bridesmaids looked like that truly was their tone!

Mr. & Mrs. DeRosa.

There's a lot to be said about these two beautiful people, not only are they from Pittsburgh-- which is where I spent a good amount of time in my past life, AND they love punk rock which is my fav music! Aside from all of that, the moment I got on the phone with Mara when we took our very first phone call, I could tell that she was one of the most genuine people I was going to work with. From the time we started the planning process of her engagement photoshoot, I knew that this would be amazing. Her and Andy were so incredibly fun to capture, their love shows almost immediately. The words that they spoke to each other in their vows during their ceremony were so true and so loving, I couldn't have been more honored to witness it.

The Reception.

Wooooowee!!!!!!! So Mara and Andy's wedding day, well the majority of it was supposed to be outside, but with it being florida and florida being....well florida....some of the festivities had to be moved inside-- but man, did it turn out even better than expected. Staff and vendors moved their reception space inside and made it look absolutely stunning. The tables were set with beautiful florals, and the head table was placed with gorgeous details. Their reception was full of thoughtful speeches and funny memories told by their closest people.

They partied all night long to some oldies and some newness! Mara jammed behind the DJ booth and it made for a perfect memory.
